    Voluntourism Part 4b – As I was saying…

    Friday, January 23rd, 2015

Following on from my last post where I concluded that we need to be more purposeful about promoting cross-cultural understanding and not presuming it will come by default from visiting other countries…

I then heard this TED talk. Aziz Abu Sarah talks about how intentional tourism can promote tolerance and understanding between cultures…even between hostile cultures such as Israelis and Palestinians. This purposeful travel can lead to the breakdown of the “us” vs “them” mindset.

    As I was saying… 🙂

Voluntourism Part 4: “Us” vs. “Them”
    Voluntourism Part 3: Who benefits?
    Voluntourism Part 2: Who? Why?
