Don’t let a good crisis go to waste

The title of today’s blog post is one of my favourite quotes at the moment – and one I think the world needs more than ever.

If you have a look at the news on any given night at the moment, it seems like there is much more cross-cultural CONFLICT, instead of cross-cultural COMMUNICATION. Many countries are also wrestling with new cultures coming in and how to respond (for example, with large influxes of refugees).

But instead of crawling into a hole, or sticking your head in the sand until things settle down, the point of not letting a good crisis go to waste is to use it as an opportunity to re-evaluate yourself – even re-evaluate your culture and your country.

It forces you to think about your values. It forces you to think about your identity. It forces you to make choices.

These can have better or worse outcomes, depending on your attitude and perspective.

But if we are proactive, we can think of these moments as opportunities to come up with innovative solutions to problems we may not have realised existed until now.

So, what crisis do you need to change your perspective on?
